Beim Bremsen drückt ein [[Bremsschuh]] gegen das Innere eine zylindirschen Trommel.<br /> <br /> Diese Trommel kann sich innerhalb des übergroßen Nabenkörpers befinden oder kann seitlich mit Hilfe eines Gewindes, das dem eines [[Freilauf]]s ähnelt, an diese Nabe montiert sein.<br /> <br /> Trommelbremsen sind im Motorrad und Automobilbereich recht verbreitet, jedoch findet man sie wegen ihres hohen Gewichts sehr selten bei Fahrrädern. Der größte Vorteil der Trommelbremse ist der, dass ihre Bremswirkung nicht von Regen beeinflusst wird.
